2020 Trends from the International Builder Show

Last month, more than 95,000 builders, general contractors, remodelers and designers gathered in Las Vegas for the 2020 International Builders Show and the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show, which together make up Design and Construction Week.

Why are we telling you this? Because the products builders see at the trade show represent the upcoming trends in home design and décor. Those trends will find their way into model homes and design centers, allowing you to see how they can be incorporated into your new Dellrose home.

What’s on the horizon? Take a look!

Transitional is Trending

The Modern Farmhouse style is beginning to take a back seat to the transitional style. The shrift reflects consumer desire for minimalist interior designs and an interest in eco-friendly and sustainable building materials without sacrificing warmth and comfort. Expect to see a mix of materials — stone, wood and metal —  as well as Nordic-style doors and windows.

Go Bold (But Not Too Bold)

While neutral paint colors will always be in style, the trend is toward bold, dark colors like dark greys, blues and greens. Surfaces, cabinets countertops and even appliances will all feature at least a splash of color.

‘Wood’ You Be Mine

The look of wood is on the rise  but the accompanying trend toward sustainability means that many people are trading real wood for options that don’t kill trees. Tile flooring that mimics the look of hardwood floors has been joined by aluminum siding with a woodgrain finish. Those interested in real wood everything are choosing heavy wood doors and kitchen cabinets.

Time for a Raise

Flat is out and raised textures are in. Companies are now offering lightweight 3D wall tiles using a 3D thermafoil process to apply different finishes, creating wood, stone, concrete and other modern looks. These raised tiles can be used on backsplashes, walls,  in bathrooms and on sinks.

As Unique as You Are

From bathroom fixtures to farmhouse sinks with an interchangeable apron front, you will enjoy unprecedented opportunities to customize your home to reflect your style. Among the many trends toward customization on display were painted kitchen islands topped with an array of colored quartz countertops. The colors make the island a focal point and add contrast to kitchen cabinets.
